P R E S S Long Gone Loser #6 (Australia) These guys are so close to sounding like Queens of the Stone Age crossed with Australia's Giants Of Science that I am starting to think that the Giants are a little bigger than what they think. As soon as I heard "Slip", I immediately thought it was the Giants with a new record - alas, I was wrong. This album is grungey and very QOTSA-esque in every way from the slurry vocals, the crazy drum beats and the Desert Sessions styled guitar riffs. For example, the track "Last Call" reeks of so much Josh Homme-ness that you could easily fool people in to thinking that this is a new QOTSA album. These comparisons are by no means a bad thing. Alta May still sound like Alta May, and that's why they're so good. Definitely one to get a hold of so write to Glazed Records and demand it. Hell, you don't believe me?
